ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ ΤΟΥ ΠΡΟΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΟΣ:

Citizen journalism has been declared as a tool to rebuild and improve a withered democracy in parallel with traditional
journalism. Scholars usually highlight two main reasons to argue that: citizen journalism empowers citizens and also diversifies the news agenda and thus contributes to revitalize the public sphere.
Young people are interested in distributing self-generated messages over computer networks.
Proceeding from these, this project seeks to empower capacities of young people in maintaining civic journalism with an aim to raise social awareness and active citizenship.

The objectives of the project are to:

1. Equip youth with basic journalism skills to take advantage of new media to publish news, views and information
2. Develop youth's critical thinking and political consciousness to question, evaluate and analyse what they hear and read
3. Encourage young people to become active and engaged citizens in their communities/region
4. Facilitate networking and further co-operation between participants and their organizations for issues concerning civic journalism across EU member and neighboring countries.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will develop 3 learning aspects:
1) knowledge about civic journalism/critical thinking, international experience
2) communicational, organizational, linguistic, journalistic and different other skills
3) develop right attitude towards the importance of civic journalism for strengthening democracy, respect towards other cultures, tolerance and human rights culture.
